SERVE IN WORSHIP

Grow in your relationship with God and others by sharing your gifts at Ascension Lutheran Church.  Volunteering offers you a way to be woven more deeply into the fabric of our congregation, grow in your faith, and form lasting friendships.  Ascension provides training for all worship service volunteers.  Become a vital part of the Ascension Church community.

  • Usher

Welcoming people to Ascension Lutheran Church is one way we let them know we're glad they are here.  It is a pleasant and fulfilling way to begin our worship service.

  • Lector

As a lector, you read the first and second scripture lessons during worship service and may lead a responsive reading during service at the lectern.

  • Media - Live Stream Production

Media volunteers are critical to both those attending worship service in-person and those attending service remotely.  The live stream video production volunteer, stages, monitors, and streams the worship service for those attending remotely.

  • Media - Worship Service Visual Display

This media volunteer plays an important role in the church worship service, monitoring the PowerPoints displayed on the sanctuary screen and assisting with the audiovisual needs of the paster during the service.

  • Assisting Minister

An Assisting Minister is a church member who helps the minister in leading worship and preparing the bread and wine for communion.  They are comfortable in front of the congregation, able to be heard clearly, and present a calm presence.

  • Communion Assistant

Lutherans believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in Holy Communion.  As a communion assistant, church members assist the pastor in distributing the bread and wine with reverence and care.

  • Acolyte

The acolyte is a youth attendant who helps the pastor, performing a number of important functions before, during, and at the close of the church service.

  • Set Communion

Holy Communion preparation plays an important role in Ascension's worship service.  This church member sets up the elements of the Holy Communion before worship service and cleans up after the service.

  • Flower Guild

Flowers are a reminder of God's divine beauty and serve to enhance our worship space.   Their beauty allows members to honor loved ones, celebrate blessed occasions, and share joy with fellow church members.

  • Hospitality

Ascension members enjoy fellowship with coffee, juice, and snacks after every Sunday worship service and following the first and third Saturday service each month.  Providing hospitality is a Lutheran tradition and an integral part of our community.

  • Communion Bread Baker

Have you ever wondered where our communion bread comes from?  The Lutheran unleavened bread recipe is prepared by our very own members and provides a meaningful remembrance of Passover bread.

  • Altar Guild

Altar Guild volunteers fill a vital role in our worship service through the care and cleaning of the Holy Communion linens, as well as changing the altar displays with the proper color of the season.

"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."
